Seaside Park is one of the best New Jersey beaches for family fun in the sun. It is a bit quieter than its northern neighbor, Seaside Heights, but that doesn't mean there isn't lots to do. The boardwalk is a mile long, and there are rides (smaller and not as many), just like Seaside Heights, and of course, it has the same beautiful white sandy beach.

But there are many families that would take this quieter corner of the Barnegat Peninsula over the noisier neighbor any day. This is the kind of New Jersey beaches town where the same families have been renting the same house and coming for the same two weeks every summer. If they do need a little more excitement, it is just a short hop to Seaside Heights, but if they want a quieter day and evening, they will stay close to home.

Besides summer rental houses, this great shore town has nine great motels, and there is a wide assortment of restaurants, from the well known Top of the Mast and Pier House, to more casual choices such as 3 c's Luncheonette.

But this is a beach town, and it is justifiably well known for its safe, clean, spacious beach. In addition to swimming areas, with lifeguards on duty form Memorial Day until Labor Day, there are areas of the beach that are perfect for fishing, with two pier on the Barnegat Bay side and of course lots of surf fishing for the blues, striped bass and fluke this area is known for. In the winter, the dedicated fishermen get beach buggy permits so they can drive right up to the surf with their equipment.

And what would the Jersey Shore be without surfing? Seaside Park has lots of surfers in the early hours as well as off season, but the great thing about this beach is that it even has a designated area for surfing and body boarding. If you're tired of being treated like a second class citizen just because you'd like to surf during the day and in the summer, this is the beach for you!
