The Seaside Heights Boardwalk-The Way a Boardwalk Should Be!
Seaside Heights Boardwalk is one full mile packed with games, rides, arcades, miniature golf and water parks. Casino Pier and Funtown Pier extend out over the ocean 300 feet, with a full range of rides from family fun ones like go-carts up to heart stopper ones like the 225 foot Tower of Fear. But for the sentimentalist in you, be sure to take your kids on the 1913 Antique Carousel on Casino pier. It is one of only two American made carousels still in existence.
Don't miss the famous Skyride that soars over the beach from one end of the boardwalk to the other. Watch the sand and the surf from a completely different perspective, and scan the view for miles out over the ocean.
Food, food and more food. Seaside is home to some of the best cheese steaks in New Jersey, great pizza, all sorts of seafood from fried clams in a cup to a nice sit down dinner of fresh caught seafood. French fries with vinegar, cotton candy, hot dogs and more. Stuff yourself like the 10 year old you'll feel like, and then stop in a quaint ice cream parlor for dessert.
And this is one really cool boardwalk at night. The two piers, extending out from the boardwalk at each end glow with the lights of the rides, and the reflection on the water is a sight to see. The Giant Wheel Ferris wheel dominates the skyline like a great planet in the sky. There are plenty of restaurants and pubs to chose from, and nightclubs that offer a refreshing place to sit and enjoy the ocean with a tropical drink, or a hot dance scene, whichever you prefer.
Seaside Heights (not to be confused with is more stately neighbor Seaside Park) is just north of Island Beach State Park, which is a great nature trip, or just to go to a beach that is quiet and in a natural setting. It's a good idea to experience every type of Jersey Shore beach experience.
