New Jersey Shopping is practically a religion for some people, and if you want to experience it at its best, you have to think outside the box. The box being the big malls and name brand outlets. For a New York level of sophistication, with Jersey prices and tax free status for clothes, be sure to visit Pier Village in Long Branch. Yes, it just happens to be right next to a great beach in the great town of Long Branch, (how many shopping destinations are right on the ocean?) but Pier Village is noted for its fabulous stores and restaurants that can make your day away from the beach (well, not that far away, since you can see the Ocean from practically every point in Pier Village), almost as much fun as being on it.
Don't expect big department stores or the top name outlets, but do expect to find beautiful, unique shops that carry items you won't see on everybody else. One of a kind shops such as the Aloha Grove surf boutique, Nirvana (THE most incredible jeans you will find anywhere!),the Bee ("From elegant to edgy, the trendiest pieces from designers such as Tibi, Milly, Shoshanna, Trina Turk, Alice & Olivia, Black Halo, J Brand Jeans, Susanna Monaco, French Connection, Juicy Couture, Free People and much more), or Jenna and Molly feature fashions for the young and hip.
They can be pricey, but if you are into shopping, you'll know how to ferret out the great bargains and sales.
The best thing about Pier Village is that there are so many great restaurants and bars to visit and restoke the fires during your shopping day. And it's not your Annie's Pretzels or Pizza Hut. Expect upscale restaurants such as McLoone's Pier House, Ristorante Sirena, and the Wine Loft, and exotic offerings such as It's Greek to Me. This place is so cool, even the Yogurt shop - Red Mango - has a Zagat rating.
Pier One Village is just as hot at night as during the shopping
day, and if you want a seriously fun evening, be sure to visit the
fabulous Le Club Avenue. With its French inspired cuisine and decor,
it is fast becoming one of the hottest spots on the Jersey Shore. Or have one of the expert mixologists at McLoone's Pier House mix up the perfect drink for ocean side sipping.
Stay near, or come from afar, it's always worth it
Like most places on the Jersey Shore, Pier Village in Long Branch is easy to get to, as long as you know where the Garden State Parkway is: GSP to Exit 105, to Route 36 east; 6 and a half miles to Ocean Blvd, turn right and one half mile on your left is Pier Village.
