There are literally hundreds of Atlantic City hotels, ranging from the most basic to super luxurious accommodations that cater to your every need. Add to that the many condos and time shares that have sprung up to meet the needs of vacationers and frequent visitors, and there is no end of places to stay in Atlantic City. Be careful, however, because there are some seedy hotels on the side streets near the casinos. If you are not familiar with Atlantic City, don't think that, as with many resort towns, if the hotel is near the ocean it is going to be in an upscale area. You might be used to staying in small boutique hotels in other cities, but in "AC", you really need to stick to the brand name chains or casino hotels to make sure you are going to be safe.
But that sure is not a problem, since Atlantic City hotels are plentiful in both hotel chains and Casinos.
So how do visitors decide where to stay? Many visitors are repeat customers who have a certain lucky casino that they enjoy going to, and they prefer to stay there, not only for the convenience, but also for the "comps". Comps are gifts of free nights or free dinners that casino hotels give their visitors to encourage them to return again and again.
But even without a comp night, you can find a very reasonably priced hotel room in Atlantic city. The Casino hotels make their money on the casino floor, so they don't have to gauge their staying customers. A fast easy search on the net will find you deals at less than $50 a night at great hotels like Trump Marina, The Tropicana, and even the Atlantic City Hilton.
If you like to play at different casinos in one night, you may want to make sure you stay at one of the Casino Hotels on the boardwalk, such as the Taj Mahal, Tropicana, or the Trump Plaza so you can see if your luck changes at a different casino by just strolling a few feet on the boardwalk. If you stay at Trump Marina or the Borgata, you will be a little further away and won't find it as convenient to do such casino hopping. But many believe those hotels are worlds unto themselves, so why would you want to go anyplace else?
For some real bargain hotels, or if you prefer more amenities, if you don't mind driving a little outside of Atlantic City to Galloway or Absecon, you can have your choice between name brand chain hotels at under $40 a night, or resort style luxury. White Horse Pike, the road into Atlantic City, is lined with inexpensive chain motels. Nothing fancy there, but if you plan on spending your evening at the tables, and then having dinner at the casino, they are a nice quick drive.
If you thrive a little more comfort and variety, there are a number of resorts in the Galloway/Absecon areas that include a golf course for those who get tired of the tables and the slots!
So whether you choose Atlantic City Hotels or a nearby resort, you won't be far from the action.
